WEBINAR: Charging Medical Electronics with Simulations, to deliver Patient Safety and Device Efficacy
Date: 10th June, Wednesday
Time: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM SGT
Medical electronic devices/systems can operate at radiation frequencies that can render them vulnerable and/or hazardous. Any medical device which is a Wireless Sensor and Actuator Network (WSAN) can experience potential malfunction due to ElectroMagnetic Interference (EMI) exposure. Besides the efficacy of the device, the concern for medical electronics is more pronounced towards patient safety. Electromagnetic radiation can mutilate a patient’s health by acting carcinogenic. Medical implants such as the pacemakers, neurostimulators can be investigated for Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) in the In Silico mode using virtual human body models. Clinical diagnosis instrumentation should be designed immune to EMI to evade erroneous readings. The Signal-to-Noise ratio can be optimized using simulation-based inferences for medical electronic systems such as MRI.
Besides conceptualizing the role and advantages of electromagnetic simulations for these applications, this webinar also details the general scope for simulation-based parametric optimization of antenna design with focus as well on antennas printed on complex PCBs.
This session shall also present some examples relating to the electromagnetic management of ophthalmic surgical instrumentation. Regulatory acceptance of electromagnetic simulation evidence for FCC approvals shall be discussed in the context.
